We're close to painting, as the hood and fenders are ready to go. The front endura bumper still needs a little loving care.
Finding parts is always a challenge for these old cars with unusual options. My latest endeavor was to find at least one power door lock accuator. I found two from a 1969 Buick, so I hope they work. I knew Buicks had to be good for something.
Sadly, you may have noticed my Goat is surrounded by a bunch of Chevy's. Stan's taken on some special cases during tough economic times, including that blue ZL-1 Camaro in the background. Hopefully the GTO won't acquire too bad of a reputation, or pick up any bad habits, after hanging out with these inferior shop mates.

1969 Pontiac GTO Convertible #2 Restoration Continues
Thanks to those of you that have inquired about the restoration progress on my '69 Crystal Turquoise GTO convertible. As you can see from the photos, the frame is nearly perfect after some sandblasting and restoration work. Body and floor panels are 100% solid, rust free, and perfectly shaped, thanks to the substantial abilities of Stan Thoene and Chief Auto Restoration. You can see a little of that beautiful original Crystal Turquoise peeking through in the first photo. Check out my older post "1969 Pontiac GTO Convertible #2" (June 8, 2011) for some original condition shots. It was pretty ugly.

You better tell that GTO of yours to not associate with those darn Chevys...ha ha! It is looking good. Can't wait to see it when it gets painted!
ReplyDeleteI would say that that is a huge improvement over the original condition, paint or no paint! Were these photos taken during your visit just last week? When does Stan anticipate the Goat will be done? The sooner it is out of Chevyville the better, right?
