Riding The Holiday Grub Line

It's been a whirlwind of a fall this year. As you saw in a previous post, we were able to put Wendy and the kids to work when they visited in October. Since they are undocumented workers from Minnesota, and didn't qualify for the child labor laws, we paid them minimum wage (zero $$$). Leslie flew back to MSP with them to help with the flight (no, her arms didn't get tired). After they had been gone for a couple of weeks, we missed them so much... we invited ourselves back for Thanksgiving. The rumors about Wendy's cooking and Cameron's pies are all true.  We both got to help untangle the Christmas lights from last year, and Leslie was drafted to help put jigsaw puzzles together.

As usual, at Leslie's insistance, we had to stop and check out a couple of cars for sale along the way. A nice '74 GTO in Western Iowa !

It was really quiet at home after we returned, so we invited ourselves to Lindsey's and Michael's for Christmas. We have such understanding daughters and sons-in-law. We also have understanding grandsons, as they didn't mind our kicking them out of their bedroom for a week. Besides, its a lot warmer in Arizona that time of year. Anyway, we had a lot of fun with them. We had great food, watched movies, toured model homes, checked out homes under construction, visited the decorated Mesa Temple grounds, and played catch with the boy's and their new baseball mitts.

We figured as long as we were riding the grub line, we might as well stop and see Sally and family in Las Vegas. This time we kicked Holly out of her bedroom, and forced her to sleep on the couch.  We're getting pretty good at displacing relatives. We got to see Sally's new back yard, Chris & Ashley's new son Logan, and their new house. Other than that,"what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas".

Again, we had to check out another car on the way home. Leslie really loves doing this, so I humor her. Found this primer gray '61 V8 Tempest in Mesa AZ.

  1. You guys have a standing invitation for any holidays up here! We loved having you guys (although I am not sure the feeling was mutual, considering you guys walked straight into a stomach-flu epidemic!!). It was also great getting to spend our first Thanksgiving with you since we have been married! I just wish we lived closer so we could spend more holidays with you! Arizona sounds like it was a lot of fun. I bet you guys are ready to stay put for a while. Now about that Florida trip.... ;)

  2. Feel free to come displace us for a night or two stay... Bode is pretty willing to stay in our room while his is on loan. :) Its a much shorter trip than Arizona or Minnesota, and I'm pretty sure you haven't stayed a night with us since we've moved... I'm starting to think you don't like us anymore (at least mom still does)! Anyways, we missed you guys for the holidays this year... Linds and Wend sure were lucky to have you! Sounds like anyone selling a car along the way was lucky to have you (I mean, mom) too! Silly mom, with all of her car detours... sheesh. :) And if it is ever to quite for you guys again, we would love to come louden things up a bit!
